It’s not as if I have never mixed a metaphor, annihilated an allegory, or relocated logic to my gym locker. Phew! Having said that I now feel free to allow my meandering mind, most ably navigated by my muse, to float down the stream of consciousness unencumbered by any man-made rules interfering with my God-given poetic license. Maybe then the half-baked ideas now doing the merengue in my head meld into something that resembles a completely baked casserole for thought. That way, when someone asks in the comments section, “What in God’s Holy name are you blathering about?”, I can calmly and ever so smoothly reply, “well, did not you read my disclaimer at the beginning of the article?”
I think I have figured out why our universities are called institutions of higher learning. It is because all of the participants are high. The latest and quite possibly the most egregious example to date of this is the student body reaction and faculty condoning of the ridiculously intellectually lazy and ignorant reaction to the war between the Iranian supported terrorist group Hamas, and the State of Israel. Hamas military personnel surprise attacked, killed, and committed unspeakable acts of barbarism against Israeli women, children, AND babies. We are talking war crimes on parade here.
According to the thinking, or maybe should I call it brain activity, going on in the protesting students’ heads, the atrocities committed by the terrorists against innocent civilians is justified because Israel is “occupying” Palestine, that name being given to the region by one of the many real occupiers, the Romans, even though the original inhabitants of Judea and Sumaira were the twelve tribes of Israel, beginning some 3,000 years ago. The Nation state of Israel was established after World Wat two by the United Nations as was the country of Pakistan. Every time Israel has, over time, given up territory to the Palestinians, in the hope of establishing peace, they have used that land as a launching pad to fire rockets indiscriminately into Israel, all the while shouting, “from the river to the sea!” At least, unlike our ignorant college students, the rocket firers know which river and which sea they are inferring. That slogan as you are no doubt aware, refers to the complete eradication of the Jews from that region or perhaps even the genocide of all jews, ala Hitler. The idea of a two state solution, which has been bandied about for years and consistently rejected by the PLO is a nonstarter because by definition, for this to occur, the two states involved need to recognize and tolerate each other. The Palestinians have it in writing that they will never agree to this. The “occupying” Israelis have afforded the Palestinians all the rights and protections under the law that Israeli citizens enjoy. They have been allowed to live and work in Israel and have been offered Israeli citizenship. The Israelis are lousy occupiers. Somebody needs a history lesson and I do believe it is the teachers and professors at our institutions of “get high and be indoctrinated”.
So at this point I think that hopefully we have established that the college protestors support of Hamas and demonization of Israel is at least wrong-headed if not completely upside down in terms who the evil doers are. This where I should probably stop but I will soldier on having the comfort afforded me by my previous disclaimer.
We were talking about history and the lack of it being properly taught at our institutions of getting high. Whadaya say we go back to the very beginning of human history to the Garden of Eden. Bear with me as even at this point, I am not completely sure where I am going with this. The serpent gave Eve an offer she couldn’t refuse: Disobey God by eating the apple and become like God, knowing good and evil. She bit. So, every human’s Original Mom and Dad disobeyed God, causing all of their descendants (us) to be born in sin with all that this condition brings, for instance, death. Just maybe, a feint silver lining to that mostly cloudy scenario is knowing good and evil. But awareness does not, unfortunately, follow that we will choose good over evil. I may have just painted myself into a corner here. I told you I wasn’t exactly sure where I was going. Not going to bail just yet….
Back to our Back to our herd of sheeple also referred to as university students. It seems to me that they are throwing their ability to even discern good from evil under the bus for the quick and fleeting dopamine hit that comes with the delusion that you are on the correct side of the moral cause de jour and everyone who disagrees with your position has their head in a warm moist place. Their credo then becomes “don’t confuse me with the facts, my mind is made up.” It is if they are content to take Original Mom’s thinly veiled silver lining in the humungous cloud of biblical proportion known as original sin and hap hazardly toss it under the bus. Boy are they gonna get it when Original Dad gets home. If anyone is calling good evil, and evil good, at least in pure secular thinking , it is our “higher learners”. Am I wrong?
